I am planning a trip to Barcelona next year for two reasons: my kids have studies Spanish for YEARS so it’s time to take off the training wheels and my husband and kids are obsessed with Barcelona soccer. So forgive me if my post slants a little towards Barcelona. Of course, the irony: they speak Catalan there which is closer to Latin.
I did a post a few days ago on Top 10: Best Old Fashioned Children’s Books based on the books that I loved as a child and my kids do too. This is the ugly stepsister version.
This list is from Children’s Book Guide titled Top 100 Children’s Books of all Time. It really is the best list of picture books EVER! It made a little sad as I went through this list. On the one hand, I did manage to read most of these books to my three kids. On the other hand (the sad part), my youngest is almost too old for these books. I think we have another year or so, and then he’s pushing on into chapter books. Another era closed, I suppose, just like diapers to potty training and preschool to elementary school and beyond.
Every year new children’s books are published, each better than before. Or are they? Classics are classics for a reason. Little One Books has created a list of lesser–known favorites from back in the day. Everything old is new again.
