I am a little dismayed at how few Caldecott books I own so I am posting on the last decade in order to beef up my own collection which I shall purchase myself. So, for my birthday and mother’s day, I am going to ask for this collection of Caldecott books for our library. And all that talk in the New York Times about the diminishing sales of picture books? Top 10 Best Children’s Books: My Kids’ Favorites of 2010
As I look back on the year and think about all the books my kids and I read together, it brings back warm, fuzzy memories of snuggling, laughing, and just enjoying a shared experience that loving the same book brings. So I asked my kids to each give me their three favorite books from last year and then I added a few more of my own, though I have to say that I loved their picks as much as they did. I hope you enjoy these books, should you need book recs, as much as we did!
Ladybug Picture Book Award
In November 2010, New Hampshire children from preschoolers to those in third grade will be invited to vote for the winner of the 2010 Ladybug Picture Book Award. Voting materials, including a picture ballot and tally sheets will be available on this website in June.
Top 10: Best Picture Books for Summer Reading (ages 1-8)
When I think of picture books for toddlers and preschoolers that evoke summer, I think of the beach and the zoo because we always make a point to make at least one trip to each of these and more, if possible. But the power of books is the ability to transport readers to new experiences they would not necessarily including go back in time. These are some of my very favorite books. I hope you enjoy them.
