As I look back on the year and think about all the books my kids and I read together, it brings back warm, fuzzy memories of snuggling, laughing, and just enjoying a shared experience that loving the same book brings. So I asked my kids to each give me their three favorite books from last year and then I added a few more of my own, though I have to say that I loved their picks as much as they did. I hope you enjoy these books, should you need book recs, as much as we did!
I went though my own bookshelves where I discovered that I was perhaps a bit paranoid in getting my older two daughters off to preschool and Kindergarten because I actually own all these books! (And, even more!). It’s true that my first two had serious separation anxieties. I did LOVE reading these books to them. Now my youngest trots into school as he has always done without a glance backwards and often I have to ask for a goodbye kiss. It’s an easy separation but a sad end of an era!
I found this from Books and Stuff which is the blog for Westerville Library and they give their perspective on the winners at the bottom of this post. Benny and Penny in the Big No-No by Jeffrey Hayes is the 2010 Winner. The information on the Geisel 2010 winners is from the ALSC (The Association for Library Service to Children):
