Yep, I was forced to read these books as a kid also. Must be a rite of passage. A few I read on my own, but many of these were assigned reading. Check out this list from Time Magazine online to see if you had to read them too! And more importantly, will you make sure your kids read them too?!!
The American Library Association (ALA) has issued their annual list of the 10 most frequently challenged books from US libraries. There’s a number of the usual suspects on the list, and while I’m still flabbergasted that there are people out there who are so concerned about the content in these books that they are requesting that they be removed from libraries (To Kill a Mockingbird? Really?)
I am also amazed that The Catcher in the Rye isn’t a movie starring some young, hunky-but-sensitive, guy. But please don’t make it into a musical! For the full post, please click here to go to ModCloth’s blog.
