Scruffy Kitty eBook App for Halloween

Halloween eBook for Little Kids

What I really love about Winged Chariot iPhone/iPad/iPod ebooks is that they come in a slew of languages.  Scruffy Kitty comes in Dutch, English, French, Spanish, and Japanese.  These apps also always have a sticker app which is fun for kids.  It would be a dream come true for me if my kids read this ebook in Spanish for fun!  I am not holding my breath, but it might come true someday… Read more…

The Red Apple ebook app in 9 languages!

The Red Apple ebook for iPhone, iPad and iPod by Winged Chariot

This is a charming story that can be read or listened to in 9 languages!  That’s not a typo folks!  The ebook has language options for:  English, Turkish, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, and Japanese.  I actually tried the app out in Spanish … you know, I have been studying for almost two years now.  Sadly, I have not studied hard enough because it was a little difficult for me to understand but it was helpful that the words are in Spanish and the female narrator has a beautiful accent worth emulating.  I will make my kids check it out in Spanish. The Birthday ebook App for Kids

Interactive eBook App for Kids: The Birthday

I opted for the English version of  the iPhone/iPad/iPod app ebook, The Birthday, by Sylvia Van Ommen and Maurice van der Bij. From the names of the authors, you won’t be surprised to find that the ebook comes with an option for Dutch but it also comes as a nice surprise that it’s in Japanese as well. Read more…

The Lorax by Dr. Seuss ebook App

Dr. Seuss eBook Apps Are Wonderful!

I can not rave more about OceanHouse Media’s Dr. Seuss iPhone app books and iPad app books. They really get it. The ebook is a different medium than a print book and therefore should have different — ENHANCED — functionality that truly makes it a different, and yes, possibly better, experience than a traditional book. Of course, that is not to say that a snuggle-up-bedtime-book can never be replaced, and you probably wouldn’t snuggle up with your child at bedtime on your iPhone reading your ebook (unless you are on vacation and ran out of good reading material), but maybe with an iPad you would. Peterkin Meets a Star ebook App for Kids

eBook Apps for Little Kids

Emilie Boon’s Peterkin Meets a Star is now an ebook and can be played on your iPhone or iPad.  This simple but charming story is perfect for very young ones, especially those who really  want to learn how to read.  The words light up as a mom-like voice reads the story.  Only the mom-voice is much more patient than I ever am and mom-voice is not racing against the clock to hustle the kids to bed. Shapes with Asian American Twist: Round is a Mooncake

eBook Asian American Shape Book for Kids

Round is a Mooncake written by Roseanne Thong and illustrated by Grace Lin, is an ebook for the iPhone or iPad  about shapes with an Asian American Children’s Literature twist.  The eBook is great for new readers because the words light up as the narrator (a charming young girl’s voice) reads the story.  I have to say that I think the lighting up of words as a story is read is one of the greatest attributes of an eBook over a traditional book. Peter Rabbit eBook App combines Classic with Puzzle

Peter Rabbit eBook App and Game for Kids

Once Upon an App has made the classic story Peter Rabbit into an eBook for the iPhone or iPad.  This is a delightful iPhone ebook.  The interactive puzzle is a la the classic “Highlights” magazine of spotting the hidden picture in the illustrated line drawing page.  When you find the picture, you move an easter egg to locate it and the picture turns into a beautiful colored illustration.  The story is narrated on each page while you search for the hidden picture.
