Here’s a great book suggestion for the Sex Talk with your child plus some anecdotes.
Yoga Pretzels is a great way to introduce children to fun yoga poses. My yoga teacher Bea Abascal of Hola Yoga put together a sequence for kids that is short, fun and easy.
My Dad Friend from work sent me the first link to Back Country Skiing and in doing so, I discovered this great blog by a Harvard Mom who now writes this blog for the Appalachian Mountain Club for kids while pursuing her love of rock climbing and back country skiiing. Winter is starting to drag on here at our house, so this is my pep talk to myself and the kids to embrace winter by trying something new like cross country skiing, snowshoeing, or new sledding hills.
Two visits to the nutritionist; once when my child was underweight and once for the opposite has yielded lots of great advice.
It’s getting easier to get my oldest to make “healthy food choices” as we call it. The other day, she went on a play date and the mom said that when she offered my daughter a snack, she requested fruit. My mom friend was aghast that she actually had no fruit in the house. A different snack was consumed. Upon her return, my daughter said that she just really, really likes and even craves a lot of fruit. And not so much for cookies. She can have cookies. Just pair it with a protein!
