This list was compiled by kids and interesting because it’s not so different from the Teacher’s Choice list also compiled by the National Education Association. Great minds think alike! This list was tabulated from an online survey that the National Education Association ran from November 1, 1999 through February 1, 2000.
iPhone/iPad app, Piffle’s ABC Book of Funny Animals, by Once Upon an App is a sweet ABC ebook with that rhymes, teaches the ABCs interactively, and is sung in an engaging and silly way that preschoolers adore.
Young Zeus by G. Brian Karas bridges the gap so perfectly between Greek Mythology and Percy Jackson in this wonderful and mythologically accurate picture book.
In my neighborhood, interfaith Jewish families are not unusual and yet there is a real scarcity of books on this topic. I searched online and then asked my local librarians when my original list wasn’t at my library to come up with this list. I hope you enjoy it as much I did. And I hope children of all faiths can read and discuss some of these books.

If you take your children to the Jersey Shore or any shore for that matter, and your child is a dreamer or artist, then this is the book to spark imaginations!
