Best picture books for kids including Caldecott and other award winning books for children.
Librarians are amazing people and it’s time they are recognized for their super hero qualities: an encyclopedic knowledge of everything, ability to open doors to new worlds, cultures and civilizations, and finally the keeper of a safe and inclusive sanctuary. In this way, librarians change lives and make the world a better place. Hooray for librarians… the unsung heroes of our communities!
Please welcome return guest author Sarah Pinneo. I love her picture book selections and many are new to me. They all have a wonderful autumnal, rustic-living-in-the-country feel. Are you ready for Fall? It’s come so fast! What are your favorite picture books that you are reading that evoke this time of year? Please share!
This is a great reading list from the Newton Free Library system for first and second graders that includes graphic novels, easy readers, non fiction, picture books, poetry and magazines. If you are part of the Minutemen library system, just click on link of book title to reserve.
I am going to make a point of reading these banned and challenged books, if only to understand where on the continuum they belong in my children’s hands. How about you? How do you feel about banned or challenged books? Please comment!
I think Fuse #8 Productions is one of the best children’s lit blogs around. Her predictions for Caldecott and Newbery Winners is usually dead on and I use her list to buy Christmas and birthday books for my kids because the timing of the actual awards comes in early January which is not perfect timing for the holiday season gift buying. Last year based on her list, I bought my oldest a stack from her list.
