I wasn’t familiar with this award though I do know about the Simon Wissenthal Museum from living in Los Angeles. My art teacher had a piece exhibited there and he said that it was the highlight of his career. I went through the past winner list and I haven’t read all the books, but the ones I have read (Though My Eyes, The Year of Miss Agnes, So Far from the Sea) are OUTSTANDING so it makes me want to read the entire list of winners, both past and present.
For the record, Bikram yoga is hot; however, not all hot yoga is Bikram. Confusing, I know. With so many styles of yoga available, it can be hard to select the one that’s best for you; so, I’ve compiled a cursory look at some of the most widely available styles, along with a brief description and a few thoughts derived from my own personal experience.
Every three days, more Americans die from sudden cardiac arrest than the number who died in the 9-11 attacks. You can lessen this recurring loss by learning Continuous Chest Compression CPR, a hands-only CPR method that doubles a person’s chance of surviving cardiac arrest.
This week’s books were also a nice selection from Rick Riordan’s popular Percy Jackson chapter book series, Dr. Seuss’ classic easy reader The Cat in the Hat, to a graphic novel (still to be named) and book that was created at school by stapling together pages. Hey, it all counts! It’s not so much WHAT they read but GETTING them to read.
Even Harvard Business School is concerned about the big paradigm shift in education: online education! It is a quite a revolution to be able to study what you want when you want. I think it’s especially great for moms going back to school. Or for my little son who wants to learn to be a Video Game Developer because … who wouldn’t?! I found a great site, NetDegree, for both.
My friend, Aloha Mom, asked me to write about organization; how to make things easier for working moms. That was about 6 months ago, so clearly I am not that organized. But the last two weeks I have been ticking off those things on my person “To Do” list like annual medical appointments and other yearly pain-in-the-neck errands that I realized the value of the “Home Bible” that I created a few years ago for myself.
This is a celebration of a mass module for students who have been dyslexic. It contains 55 lessons that will progressively learn your tyro to resolve as good as spell difference regulating phonics, manners as good as mental recall cues. The lessons progressively set up up to a subsequent topic, charity exercise for reinforcement. Being formed upon a good good known Orton-Gillingham process for overcoming dyslexia.
I find that now that I am of a certain age (ahem … mid forties), I am experimenting with serums, night creams and the like and also, in general, trying to take better care of my skin. It’s overwhelming, however, to figure out what the best products are for me. My approach was to analyze all the posts in my new favorite beauty blog, Into the Gloss, and see what products came up over and over and over again. This is that list. Please let me know what products are your favorites and I’ll add to the list.
My Dad Friend from The Sherpa Report introduced me to a Dad Friend of his in our town who has a math online tutoring company called TenMarks. I met with both founders a few weeks later and they were kind enough to give me a detailed demo plus provide me with codes to try it out.
