Even with your best efforts to make your child comfortable with reading, they may still experience reading anxiety or reluctance. Some may even have unresolved reading trauma from years of past reading failures.
On October 19th, I will be speaking at the Close the Reading Gap Summit. This free event is for parents and teachers. This year’s annual summit topic is Helping the Reluctant Reader.
Children who resist reading are not lazy. They are not misbehaving. They are often frustrated and sick of doing it “wrong,” or not making progress. You can turn this around! Helping a reluctant reader succeed often hinges on things that aren’t difficult, if you know what to do and have a few extra tools in your toolbox. Come to the summit and find out how to “flip the script!”
As reading and writing go hand in hand, there will also be a special section on how to turn reluctant writers into Brave Writers!
Hurry on over and register. You won’t want to miss this!
