Portland Museum of Art in Maine

My husband and I have been empty-nested for a few years now. At first, it was a little sad not to have the kids at home. Over time, though, we have enjoyed the freedom of just doing whatever we want.

We’ve recently discovered traveling without kids, something we never did when the kids were at home. We highly recommend it! While we always dragged the kids to art museums, there was always a ticking clock as to how long we could look at the art. Not all the kids enjoyed these cultural excursions, though I will have to say that two of our kids went to art college, and the other one considers herself a patron of the arts and actively collects art.

The Portland Museum of Art in Maine is wonderful. I almost missed the wing with all the incredible impressionist art, but luckily, my husband spotted that part of the museum. Portland is a really fun city with great food. For us, it’s just a short drive. We will be back!
