I am trying not to be a watercolor paint hoarder but I couldn’t help but dream up a tiny plein air set when I got a free small tin of mints from a booth at ALA.
I am using mostly Windsor and Newton Professional Artists watercolor paints, but I am now also experimenting with Daniel Smith watercolors as well. I have Moonglow in this set, which I love! It’s an inky dark hue with purple undertones. It’s wonderful for shadows.
I used this set at Jenny Brown’s Art and Wine Experience, and it really worked out. I hope to do more plein air painting and urban sketching with this set, a pouch of drawing materials, and a sketchbook. I also purchased a collapsible stool, but I have only used it once. The stool didn’t come with a strap to carry it, so I borrowed my daughter’s yoga bag strap, and that worked pretty well.
I’ll keep you posted if I make it out to a park or garden to paint with this set. It’s just been so hot lately that I have no motivation! Maybe in the fall!
