When I visited D.C. for NCSS, my husband and I spent a few extra days exploring the museums. We were lucky that the National Portrait Gallery Museum, officially called the Donald W. Reynolds Center for American Art and Portraiture, was within walking distance of the Convention Center. It hosted a very brisk Winter Market, which we had to push our way through to enter the museum.
It was worth it. I finally got to see Barack Obama’s famous portrait. It was also so interesting to see the range of artistic styles that different U.S. presidents chose for their formal portraits.
This museum building has both portraiture and American Art. It’s definitely worth a visit if you are in town!
