My son is now a sophomore at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. All the freshmen take a Foundation Year in which they learn fundamentals of art and design. In his case, he was with the same cohort of about 20 classmates the entire year. This is the art that he made:
My daughter, graduated from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) this past June. She also had a foundation year her freshman year.
In her case, she had a different cohort of classmates for both semesters. For her “art history” class, she took it with the entire freshman-year class. She also had a January session class with yet another set of students. In her case, she took a textile class. Here is the art from her freshman year.
