Mia Wenjen
Mia Wenjen is half Japanese and half Chinese American and married to a Korean American. This unusual ethnic combination made her seek out all kinds of Asian representation in children’s books for her three kids. She started a blog, PragmaticMom.com, to share her favorite books, and a nonprofit, Read Your World, to celebrate and give away diverse children’s books. Her newest picture books include: The Traveling Taco, about food as immigrants. We Sing from the Heart: How the Slants® Took Their Fight for Free Speech to the Supreme Court, about Simon Tam’s fight to trademark his band’s name. Boxer Baby Battles Bedtime!, about a toddler who won’t nap, featuring boxing idioms.
Aditi Wardhan Singh
Author of the renowned Sparkling Me children’s books and books on multicultural parenting, Aditi Wardhan Singh is an award-winning, best-selling author of seven books. She is an authoritative voice on cultural sensitivity and empowerment, featured on numerous global publications and broadcast networks like NBC, CBS, HuffPost, Thrive, Richmond Family Magazine, Reading with Your Kids podcast, etc. Her passion for diversifying dialogue within multicultural families led her to found the collaborative RaisingWorldChildren.com platform. Today, she aims to help parents diversify their libraries by lifting other multicultural authors like herself.In her spare time, she enjoys choreographing dance recitals, volunteering, and having impromptu dance parties with her two charming kids. Her upcoming works include a multicultural children’s book about belonging and a unique bilingual Hindi-English resource for children.
Sylvia Liu
Sylvia Liu grew up with books and daydreams in Caracas, Venezuela. Once an environmental attorney protecting the oceans, she now spins stories about nature, strong girls, and the intricacies of family and friendship. Sylvia lives in Virginia with her family and a fluffy cat. Her books include Near and Deer (Scholastic 2024), Hana Hsu and the Ghost Crab Nation(Razorbill 2022), Manatee’s Best Friend (Scholastic 2021), and A Morning with Grandpa (Lee & Low New Voices Award winner).
Nancy Hope
Nancy Hope, M.Ed., M.F.A., M.A., is the Executive Director of the Freeman Book Awards, which recognizes quality literature for young adults and children on East and Southeast Asia. She lived in Japan for 8+ years, first as a line officer in the United States Navy, and then as a designer and dyer of kimono. Later as the Associate Director of the Kansas Consortium for Teaching about Asia, she promoted international education at the K-12 level through seminars, workshops, and study tours for teachers.
Diana Huang
Diana Huang was born in Southern California to Chinese-American immigrant parents, she struggled academically and socially in her K-6 years. But ever since kindergarten, she had developed a strong interest and passion for the visual arts. Eventually, she went on to study at the University of Southern California with a BFA in Fine Art (2001) & MAT Multiple Subject (2015), and OTIS College of Art and Design with a BFA in Digital Media (2007). She has been working in various art and non-art industries while also creating her own story worlds. She is also the author and illustrator of multiple books, including Intrepids: A Sci-fi Fantasy Novel for 5- 8th graders (2020), Cooking the Books: A Cartoon Humor Book About Idioms (2019), and The Elemental Horses book series (2012-2023).
Maria Wen Adcock
Maria Wen Adcock is the author of It’s a Chinese New Year, Curious George (2023) and My Name is Ai Lin (July 1, 2025). Maria is a first-generation Chinese-American writer and founder of the award-winning multicultural parenting blog www.BiculturalMama.com. She has appeared on The Dr. Oz Show, Bloomberg News, Newsday, News12, and Huffington Post. Maria is a board member of Multicultural Kid Blogs, an organization supporting diverse parenting bloggers, and co-host of the annual publishing event Read Your World Day. She also works at the local library in the children’s department. Maria resides on Long Island with her husband and two children.
