I worked with Rina at MassAudubon on an Early Education Farm-to-Table education curriculum development project for preschools and home daycare providers in Mattapan, Massachusetts. Food for the Future: Sustainable Farms Around the World was selected as one of the titles for the book resources.
Rina invited me to visit her at Drumlin Farm. I had been there many times in the past as part of preschool outings but I never really saw all of it. Rina took me on a behind-the-scenes look and it was fantastic.
I remembered all the wild animals that they rehabilitated. These animals are injured and can not be released to the wild but they out their days in a wonderful setting, well cared for. There are also farm animals that my kids loved to visit when they were little.
The garden beds are both beautiful and educational. Drumlin Farms has lots of programs for children to learn about pollination, growing food, and butterfly migration!
