It was the highlight of our trip to California for my husband to play on one of his all-time favorite golf courses, Riviera Country Club! This is a PGA golf tournament in conjunction with Tiger Woods’ foundation. He was invited to be part of the San Jose State foursome to support one of their players, Kristopher Stiles, in the College Showcase at the Genesis Invitational.
True story: our middle daughter saw a video on Kristopher Stiles, a junior golfer who found his way to golf despite modest means. She asked us to see if my husband’s friend, John Kennaday, the men’s golf coach at San Jose State would be interested in him. When my husband called him, John said that he had already recruited Kristopher Stiles for his team!
It was our first time meeting Kristopher and his father in the flesh, and we are rooting for him as he pursues a professional career in golf when he graduates this year!
Our golf tournament, held on Monday, was pretty incredible. The course didn’t have the fans that it would have later in the week which made it less intimidating. We were treated like royalty, with valet parking when we arrived which made us feel like were part of the PGA, and delicious food served throughout the day including grilling stations at certain holes with hotdogs, hamburgers, and vegan alternatives.
It was a special day! My husband is in the back row, third from the left. He is standing next to Kristopher Stiles. Coach John Kennaday was Kris’ caddy and is wearing the white caddy apron.
