I’m thrilled to reveal the cover of my newest picture book, Boxer Baby Battles Bedtime!
I wanted to introduce Kai Gietzen, the illustrator for Boxer Baby Battles Bedtime. Kai is a recent graduate of the Illustration program at the Rhode Island School of Design! This is his debut picture book as an illustrator.
How would I describe Kai’s illustrations in the book? His use of perspective to show the page spread in an unusual and dramatic way is honestly something that I have never seen before in picture books. He also uses light and shadow to create a mesmerizing focal point. Finally, his whimsical illustrations convey movement and humor in a really fun way.
To see more of his work, please check out his website and Instagram.

Dad needs to get Boxer Baby down for her nap but she is not going down without a fight! This funny picture book told in three rounds includes boxing idioms. This picture book also celebrates the unsung heroes — dads who stay home to care for their children. [picture book, ages 3 and up]
