If you are on the Big Island and heading from Kailua-Kona towards the Hawai’i Volcanos National Park, make a pit stop at the Punalu’u Bake Shop. Not only is the food amazing there — be sure to buy some malasada donuts — but there is also a wonderful tropical culinary garden to explore.
If you need to stretch your legs and let your kids run around for a little bit, this is the perfect rest stop! There is plenty of outdoor seating including covered seating in the event of rain. If you eat there, please let me know your favorite thing you ate there. It’s hard to choose!
