The dorms at Northwestern University run the gamut from the standard old-school dormitory double to super deluxe! Here are the two dorm rooms that my daughter lived in.
This is her freshman dorm room at Bobb on North Campus. It’s your typical old-building dorm room though, thankfully, it does have window air conditioning units! Here’s her move-in video:
This video gives a sense of the Bobb/McCulloch dorm. Confusingly, it has two names but it’s actually just one building. Why do they do that? I do not know.
My daughter’s sophomore dorm situation was a significant upgrade due to a very good lottery number. She’s on the 4th floor of Kemper in a 6 man suite. Each of them have a single room. They share a bathroom, living room, AND a kitchen! Also the view out every window of their suite is spectacular!
My husband and I compare our dorm rooms to our daughter’s current dorm room and think back to our dark, small shared spaces! We are not complaining but college rooms can be very different now! How about you? What are your memories of your dorm room or visiting a dorm room? Thanks for sharing!

That’s a really nice setup! Stanford has some really nice dorms, and houses converted into dorms. My freshman dorm wasn’t very nice, but I liked the place I lived sophomore and junior years – and even had my own room junior year. That was wonderful!
