Barefoot Books was the first that I know of to exclusively create beautiful multicultural books. Now, thirty years later, I was thrilled to celebrate their 30 Years, 30 Artists exhibit at the Umbrella Arts Center in Concord.
It features works from Barefoot Books throughout their thirty year history and, not surprisingly, the artists hail from all over the world. The exhibit is stunning. You can see it here:
It was walk down memory lane for me as I recognized images from picture books that I read and loved with my children such as Lola’s Fandango, The Boy Who Grew Flowers, Girl with a Brave Heart, Arabian Nights, and more!
As I walked around, I hoped that art by Robert Sae-Heng who is illustrating our book, Food for the Future: Sustainable Farms Around the World, would one day have illustrations hanging on a wall. I would definitely buy them!
You can purchase the prints here. 50% of sales support The Umbrella Arts Center.
