Pittsburgh Strip District: A Shopping and Eating Guide to Pittsburgh’s Strip District
From Discover the Burgh
- Kaya – This Caribbean inspired restaurant has a broad menu and is home to an incredible burger and the best happy hour in Pittsburgh. (Kaya is currently Discover the Burgh’s #1 rated restaurant.) ONLY takeout.
- Mancini’s Bakery – Most visit Mancini’s for their bread; however, we like to stop at their outdoor food cart to pick up one of their famous pepperoni rolls when we need a quick snack.
- Colangelo’s – A bakery with delicious sandwiches and pizza near La Prima.
- Jimmy & Nino Sunseri Co. – Italian grocery home to breads, sandwiches, and the famous pepperoni roll.
- Bar Marco – Some of the best bartenders are at this one, and the food (albeit small and overpriced) is some of the best we’ve had in the city. Visit during weekday happy hour for 50% off all food and a daily cocktail special! Reservations are recommended.

I’ve lived in Pittsburgh for over 15 years and I haven’t heard of all the restaurants you listed – looks like it’s time for me to try some! We love Spork and Mancini’s Bakery though. If you like breakfast, I would definitely recommend trying any of the Pamela’s Diners locations or DeLuca’s Diner (in the Strip). As for things to do, Phipps is awesome and if you’re going to be in Oakland, it’s worth checking out the Carnegie Museums (both art and history are there) as well as the main branch of the Carnegie Library. If you’re going to be in the strip, definitely check out Heinz History Center (and try a chocolate covered pickle from their gift shop!).
Enjoy your time in Pittsburgh!!
