This was my first time to visit Barefoot Books Headquarters in their new office space in Concord. I had visited their office when they were in Sommerville years ago, and their store in Concord so it was fun for me to see their evolution.
This new office space is gorgeous and filled with special touches like the bookshelf fixtures that used grace FAO Schwartz in Boston’s Back Bay. I also loved the throne used for read alouds at the Concord store.
But I was most blown away by the curtains that separate the workspace from the common space. The illustrations of some of the Barefoot Books are brought to life as curtains. Wouldn’t it look spectacular in a children’s room?
I also loved how endpapers were reinvented as wallpaper! I hope interior designers are taking note!
But most of all, I was delighted to see my friend Meera Sriram’s two new fabulous books, Dumpling Day and A Gift for Amma!
I bought both of them to take home … and now I am wondering how I can get some matching curtains too!
Barefoot Book’s table on sustainability is also near and dear to my heart. I will have a special announcement soon … so please stay tuned!
My kids and I grew up on Barefoot Books. It was like coming home again to see old favorites on display. How about you? What are your favorite Barefoot Books? Thanks for sharing!

Nice! I remember their Concord shop. I think maybe that closed though? They publish wonderful books.
