I was so thrilled to receive a customized bilingual Spanish book from TimTimTom as a reviewer for Multicultural Children’s Book Day. I chose a soccer-themed book for my daughter, Ali, because she played a lot of soccer in elementary school. She also studied Spanish for many, many years.
It was fun to choose the book theme and I was amazed that I could customize the main character’s appearance to more closely resemble my daughter. I was able to choose her hair, skin, and eye color. I was even able to choose her hairstyle! She always wore her hair back in a ponytail when she played soccer so I went with that look.
My daughter will love my customized dedication from me and her father:
To Ali,
We loved to watch you play!
Love,
Mom and Dad
I loved the storyline. Ali is a serious soccer player who trains hard and improves but she injures her ankle and has to sit out during the beginning of the game. She’s a supportive teammate on the bench and cheers as her team scores.
She’s also carefully analyzing the game and that comes into play when she gets her chance to play during the second half. I don’t want to spoil the ending for you, but Ali will like the book’s outcome…
It reminds me of Ali’s game when she was 13 years old:
The only changes I would make to the story are to switch out “football” for “soccer” for American audiences, as well as “practise” for “practice.” The book was printed in Hong Kong so I can see the U.K. influence!
This is a beautiful hardcover book with appealing illustrations. The Spanish version is on the opposite side of each spread, making it easy to read and translate for those of us who don’t speak Spanish very well.
I would have loved to give this book to my daughter when she was in elementary school. It would have been a fun present when she played Kindergarten Soccer!
Soccer is not the only theme for TimTimTom books. There is also ballet, a dolphin adventure, and activity books are being added soon!
Even more amazing is that TimTimTom books are available in Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Mandarin (Simplified and Traditional) Portuguese, Russian and Spanish. You can choose any combination of two languages!!!

This is super cute! What a great gift this would be.
What a fun idea for a bilingual book (or any book, but bilingual is bonus!) That’s some impressive soccer footage of your daughter’s game.
Ooh, I love personalized books! How great that it is bilingual. Love that you got to pick the sport as well as the look of the main character.
