We visited our daughter, PickyKidPix, for Parents Weekend at Northwestern University.
It’s such a beautiful campus, and even more so when the weather is nice. Several huge, sparkly buildings went up recently thanks to the generosity of the Ryan family, including a new athletic complex.
Northwestern University has a highly lauded school of music, The Henry and Leigh Bienen School of Music, and we enjoyed hearing two bands practice for their performance next week. The students are incredibly talented. Our daughter told us that their jazz program is the best in the world because the professor of jazz moved from The Julliard School to Northwestern.
We also watched women’s volleyball play against the University of Wisconsin. It was an exciting game! Here’s a compilation of our weekend:
I don’t remember a Parents Weekend when I went to college. I think it did exist but my parents weren’t able to come out due to the expense plus my father was in a wheelchair from Parkinson’s disease which made travel challenging. My family only came out once to visit me when I graduated. We made a vacation out of it and also went to Washington DC.
How about you? Do you have memories of Parents Weekend from your college experience or your children’s? Thanks for sharing!
