Getting out of the house and enjoying some time together as a family is important and something you should aim to do as often as possible. So, when you are planning to take a little family trip together, there are a few things that you should be thinking of taking.
Food for the Family
An important thing to remember to bring along with you is food. Packing your own stuff is a brilliant way to keep the cost of your family trip as low as possible. Plus, you know better than anyone what your family will and won’t eat, so you can be sure to prepare accordingly.
A Nice Picnic. A lovely picnic is one of the best ways to spend time with your family and something you will likely all enjoy. Plus, a good picnic is a brilliant opportunity to take in the area you have traveled to and possibly even play some games together.
Traveling Snacks. Long trips without adequate snacks can be a truly miserable experience, both for the snack-less and those who forgot to bring the snacks.
Plenty of Drinks. Last but certainly not least, you need to be sure you’ve brought plenty of drinks along with you, both to keep hydrated while you are traveling and to have something to drink during the lovely picnic.
Entertainment Options
Keeping the ball rolling with your holiday can be difficult to do at the best of times, and one of the most important parts of that is to keep everyone as entertained as you possibly can.
Family Games. Family games form a core aspect of any family holiday, and it would be a complete shame not to bring them. Games like Uno, Monopoly, Yahtzee, and more are brilliant for keeping everyone interacting with each other, and they’re a lot of fun to boot.
Electronic Devices. Depending on the style of family holiday you are going for, you might not want to bring these along. However, if you are, then your electronic devices can be a fabulous way to keep everyone quietly entertained while you are actually traveling.
Important Items
Finally, a few bits are quite important for you to take on any trip that you take together. It’s easy to forget things, so these should be on a permanent checklist or something that helps you to remember to bring this stuff.
Baby Bits. If you have a baby, then there are a fair few bits that you will have to bring with you to look after them properly. Wet wipes, diapers, baby formula (if you use it), and a good diaper bag to hold it all. You don’t want to be caught out without this stuff, so be sure to keep track of it all somewhere.
Medications. On top of that, you are absolutely going to want to bring any kind of medication that your family needs to be taking. Whether it is emergency stuff like Epi-pens or just regular medication that they have to take, you don’t want to end up without your families’ meds when needed.
Keeping snacks on hand at all times is crucial to keeping my kids from melting down. Even for day trips, such as a soccer tournament, being prepared can make the difference between wanting to tear your hair out and having a successful trip. I used to keep snacks in my purse at all times when my kids were little. Now, I find that snacks in the car can be a lifesaver.
How about you? What are items that you always bring with you on trips, whether it’s a day trip or longer? Thanks for sharing!
