Bowdoin College Visit. The tour was run by a student. There was no Admissions person presentation.
We visited during Bowdoin’s fall break/Alumni weekend. There weren’t really many students on campus which gave it a different feel.
My takeaways from Bowdoin:
- It’s a very small school that looks particularly strong in Performing Arts given all the buildings designed for that.
- The student center seems vibrant and is a nice communal space.
- There is more diversity in the student population than other similar Little Ivy schools, especially compared to Trinity and Bates.
- It’s a beautiful campus that reminded us of Wesleyan although Vassar, hands down, has the most picturesque campus (and a golf course!)
- We liked the town more than the town Bates is in.
- It seems like a very friendly place.
- Freshmen can’t get parking.
- It has a variety of curriculum requirements both for writing seminars (3 of them), STEM, and humanities.
