The wonderful thing about novels is that they allow us a glimpse into a world that isn’t our own and never will be. However, we all wish we could see certain parts of our favorite novels in real life sometimes. This article aims to have a look at some of the most interesting buildings from popular novels that we wish we could see in real life.
8. Castle Dracula – Dracula, Bram Stoker
There are very few things in life that are as impressive and imposing as the literal home of Count Dracula. Castle Dracula would be an incredible structure to see in person and haunting, to say the least. Although Castle Dracula doesn’t exist, you can almost see it in Bran Castle.
7. The Directory – The Midnight Charter, David Whitley
The directory, home to the director of receipts, lord of all Agora, is an incredibly interesting structure and one that would very much be impressive to see in person. Although, its existence would have worrying implications for the state of the world.
6. The House of Hades – The House of Hades, Rick Riordan
Few places are simultaneously as incredibly cool and amazingly terrifying as The House of Hades, the literal house of death, the Necromanteion. This amazing structure would be absurdly cool to behold, but it’d probably be best to maintain a wary distance, given what it takes to pass through it.
5. Elantris – Elantris, Brandon Sanderson
Admittedly this is a little more than a single building, but the legendary city of Elantris is one of the most incredible structures ever to exist, literally built by living gods and so much more than a simple city this amazing place would be unbelievably beautiful to behold.
4. Unseen University – Eric, Terry Pratchett
To be able to see the haphazard, ever-changing, and somewhat ridiculous Unseen University would be quite the feat and definitely something to talk about, not least because it would be filled with wizards. Whether the imposing Tower of Art or the sprawling library would be the best place to view, though, is a question that lacks a proper answer.
3. Hogwarts – Harry Potter, J. K. Rowling
Could you imagine the sweeping glory of Hogwarts brought to life? The sprawling grounds, teetering towers, and shifting staircases of that magical place would be simply divine. Of course, building this incredible palace of magic and mischief would test even the best contractors, but if you’re looking for one that could help with your current building project, check out these Networx reviews.
2. The New York Institute – The Mortal Instruments, Cassandra Clare
The home of the Shadowhunters in New York is an incredible building shielded from mundane eyes by powerful runes. Despite that, it would be a wonder to see the institute in person. To glimpse the library bursting with books or the training room where the Shadowhunters learn to fight. Best of all, the greenhouse kept by Hodge would be an incredible sight to see, with blossoming flowers the likes of which you’d never seen before.
1. Bag End – The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, J.R.R. Tolkien
This is one that is actually almost real. In the makings of The Lord of the Rings, the set of Hobbiton was built permanently into a sheep farm in New Zealand, meaning you can go and visit Bag End itself.
