Please join me and Amy Tai for our second Multicultural Children’s Book Club. We host a FREE multicultural children’s picture book virtual book club on the first Thursday of every month from 7 pm to 8 pm EST.
June’s event will be held on June 3rd and we are celebrating Juneteenth using Juneteenth Jamboree by Carole Boston Weatherford. As always, we will have:
- Book talk
- Art project
- Snack ideas related to our theme
- Surprise guest (popping in at 7:50 pm)
- Giveaways
I am giving away a “Multicultural Children’s Book Club in a Box” which includes Juneteenth Jamboree and snacks for a group. I hope you will host your own Juneteenth celebration! Amy will also give away her sample art project.
For those who don’t know Amy Tai, she is a New York City public elementary school art teacher and she’s amazing in both facilitating a Zoom event and in her creative ideas!!
We hope you can join us in June!

We had a little technical snafu and our surprise guest wasn’t able to make it, so she made us a special video for us here.
In order to prepare for our Juneteenth celebration, our team attended Lee and Low’s Teaching about Juneteenth with Children’s Books taught by multiple experts including author Carole Boston Weatherford.
Here are two relevant screenshots of slides from that webinar for anyone looking to learn more:
