Elevations RTC: Important Accreditations for Top-Tier RTC’s

Posted on May 17, 2021February 22, 2024 by Pragmatic Mom

The top accreditations resident treatment centers (RTC’s) need in order to be considered top-tier programs include those from the Joint Commission, Cognia, the National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs (NATSAP), and Psychology Today. All provide reputable training and certifications for residential treatment programs to provide exemplary services, including behavior therapy and medical care.

Here’s a closer look at the organizations that RTC programs, such as Elevations RTC, need to acquire to become top tier.

The Joint Commission

The Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (TJC) outlines standards that are updated yearly. The agency is non-profit and independent.

It reviews a wide range of healthcare programs and supports those that are both affordable and top quality. More than 22,000 health care organizations in the United States are certified by TJC.

Founded in 1951, the organization is the largest and oldest accrediting health care body in the United States. Its Gold Seal of Approval is awarded after an RTC is reviewed through an extensive on-site survey at least every three years.

TJC’s board of commissioners includes multiple professionals affiliated with health care, including teachers, nurses, physicians, and consumer advocates.

The organization authorizes many specific certifications, including those for community-based palliative care, behavioral health home care, integrated care, and health care staffing services.

Cognia

Through a global network of teachers, volunteers, and other professionals, Cognia helps foster the potential of educators to effectively reach those they are working with directly. The organization was founded in 1895.

Cognia, which works with about 36,000 institutions and 5 million educators each day worldwide, offers certifications and accreditations to education providers, institutions, and residential treatment centers.

Using tried-and-true educational standards and frameworks, Cognia offers everything from training in innovative teaching strategies, reviews of successful teaching philosophies and engagement, and access to high-quality teaching for students regardless of background.

Organizations, treatment centers, and health care professionals thrive under Cognia’s support and training courses.

Accreditation from Cognia indicates strong institutional quality, refined leadership and educator skill, and a passion to continue exemplary and innovative techniques. In addition, Cognia evaluates learning environments and individual health care providers and educators.

NATSAP

The National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs is a group of therapeutic programs that set national standards for care among member programs.

NATSAP is dedicated to organizations committed to effective medical care and education for young people and their families who are struggling.

NATSAP is the largest non-profit membership association in the United States, helping to improve residential treatment centers, wilderness therapy programs, and therapeutic boarding schools.

It advocates for innovative organizations who push for effective ways to ensure young people get the best care they can get.

Members of NATSAP must be licensed by an appropriate state agency that oversees standards of therapeutic healthcare for adolescents. Members must also have services that are overseen by a clinician licensed in education, training, and supervision.

NATSAP members reflect good practice principles. A NATSAP program must follow state and federal laws, strive to provide ethical and professional services, and provide regular and appropriate connections to vital health care providers.

NATSAP-endorsed programs must also have a written behavior management plan, have safety policies and procedures outlined, and offer facilities with sufficient size and space to accommodate their programs and services.

NATSAP also adheres to a long set of ethical principles that RTC members must follow.

All NATSAP member programs must aspire to be responsive to the welfare and dignity of program participants, respect the privacy of participants, recognize the range of societal, cultural, and familial backgrounds of patients, and avoid any conflict of interests among participants and those caring for them.

NATSAP members must not provide reparative therapy and commit themselves to continuous professional development.

Psychology Today

Psychology Today is another global network of therapeutic programs and therapists. RTC’s can receive a Verified Treatment Program endorsement by Psychology Today based on licenses and accreditations.

A compilation of verified therapists, psychiatrists, teletherapy practices, treatment centers, and support groups can be found on Psychology Today’s website. The list is searchable by country, state, county, and city.

The group’s website also includes a wealth of information about everything from childhood trauma and building self-confidence to addiction.

A verification from Psychology Today indicates that an individual RTC is independently recognized as licensed or accredited and provides care and services that are trustworthy and effective.

SEVIS

The Student and Exchange Visitor Information System is run through the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement government agency. It maintains a database of organizations, institutions, and students certified by the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP).

SEVP certified schools may offer programs to nonimmigrant students and help fulfill the school’s approach to courses of student enrollment and employment.

All Kinds of Therapy

All Kinds of Therapy is a wide-ranging, comprehensive directory of organizations and experts providing treatment and interventions for teens, young adults, and their families.

This web directory for family choice behavioral healthcare interventions (FCBHI) showcases options for programs, schools, and substance abuse treatments that are recognized as top-tier in the United States.

All Kinds of Therapy’s mission is to offer accurate and clear information for families to compare potential medical and educational services.

More About RTC’s

Therapeutic programs like Elevations RTC are valued and supported through receiving the above accreditations and licenses. They must provide a full range of accredited medical care paired with licensed educational services to treat troubled teens or younger children.

Accredited RTC’s often require an application to start services. The Elevations RTC application, for example, carefully reviews applications from teenagers and families to make sure the program is the overall right fit.

Top-tier RTC’s all include highly specialized programming and facilities to support the individual, complex needs of each and every patient and student.
