It can be hard to entertain the kids during Shelter-in-Place so I wanted to share my easy cardboard box crafts that kept my kids entertained for half a day.
The first is an easy DIY cardboard box car. I generally like to make one car per kid and have them decorate the car with washable markers or crayons. If you don’t have large cardboard boxes, I also used laundry baskets in a pinch!
My son made this DIY robot costume using cardboard boxes that we had lying around the house. It’s amazing what kids can do with cardboard and duct tape!
A house or castle can be easily made out of cardboard boxes. What I love about it is that it’s easy to collapse and store when the kids tire of it and can be brought out at a later time for more creative play!
How about you? What DIY toys have you made for your kids to get through Shelter-in-Place? Thanks for sharing!

Post-Katrina, when my son was 3, we were living with my MIL. She bought a new vacuum cleaner while we were there and the box became his “house.” Such warm memories, even amidst a difficult time (then and now).
