I’m going to let you in on our secret beach on Kauai that we stumbled on this past summer. My husband and his friend Aaron spotted it while playing golf at The Club at Kukuiula. It’s a private exclusive club and they only had access because they know people. His friend Aaron played on the PGA tour and also worked on Kauai as a PGA golf teaching professional.
Aaron knew that all beaches in Hawaii must have access to the general public. No beaches are private! That being said, this new development centered around Kukuiaula is trying to make our secret beach their private beach. Hence the proliferation of “Private: Keep Out” signs everywhere. It doesn’t deter the locals, and it didn’t deter us.
It’s worth the hike down to the beach. It’s a spectacular location where the river meets the ocean in this secluded cove. The waves can be flat or a few feet high. There is also generally shade too.
Here’s the path to get to our secret beach:
This is our secret beach paradise!
