Did you know that 70% of all kids quit organized sports by the age of 13, with girls quitting at 6x the rate of boys?
It’s not easy to keep girls in sports, and it’s a labor of love to coach, especially those who are volunteer parent coaches.
We want to help. We are giving away FREE resources for coaches. As the fall season begins, here are a few helpful forms:
- Pre-Season Logistics Check Off Form
- Emergency Medical Kit Check Off Form
- Player Code of Conduct Printable Form
- Champions Creed Printable
- Parent Code of Conduct Downloadable Form
Parent Code of Conduct
We created a Parent Code of Conduct to help coaches set a positive tone both on the field and in the car. This video of The Ride Home is the saddest thing that I’ve ever seen, but it’s one of the big reasons why kids quit organized sports.
Player Code of Conduct
Our player code of conduct emphasizes sportsmanship and having fun. The Champions Creed Printable is meant to inspire and reinforce a Growth Mindset.
Pre-Season Logistics Check Off Form
This is a check-off form meant to help coaches organize parents and players before the season starts to avoid pitfalls that can erode team chemistry.
Emergency Medical Kit Check Off Form
With just one stop to the drug store, coaches will be prepared for small emergencies like nosebleeds. Asking parents to provide an extra set of contact lenses for their players ahead of time — it’s part of the pre-season logistics check off form — is a tip from Coach Alison Foley from Boston College.
All the free forms for HOW TO COACH GIRLS on our website. We hope that everyone has a great season this fall!
p.s. Ainslee Lamb who coached field hockey at Yale, Boston College and her daugther’s middle school has great advice on how to keep girls in sports.

Wow! That ride home video is pretty sad but an easy trap to fall into. I will be very mindful of that when I drive home with my daughter after her tennis sessions. Thanks for sharing.
It’s an easy trap to fall into! Youth sports can become a business these days which puts a whole different spin on it including parental expectations.
