My 13 year old son’s Exotic Fruit Challenge: Cherimoya.
Reminds us of: floral pineapple.
Texture: like melon crossed with pineapple but with bigger seeds. Not as stringy as pineapple.
Flavor: sweet with a floral quality.
Verdict: very good! We were not sure if the cherimoya was overripe.
Wow, they are expensive! Did your son end up trying it?
Hi Dee,
Yes, we did! I think we waited too long though and did not eat it at its prime.
I loved Cherimoyas when we lived in Bolivia. So yummy.
You have lived in so many places!! What wonderful food memories you have from those places. I will have to try to try Cherimoyas again and ripen it correctly!
How did you know how to prepare and eat all of these? I love that he’s so adventurous when it comes to food.
Hi Mother of 3,
We pretty much just slice it up and try it out! The fruit might not be at optimal peak ripeness, though sometimes that is because of the distance it has traveled.
This is a great challenge. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Thanks so much Xyra! I’m always looking in the Asian supermarkets now for more exotic fruits to try! 🙂
