Your child getting married is a great moment. As they are planning the event, they are probably going to ask you for help at some point. If you want your child to have a truly unique day, consider mentioning some of the ideas below.
Have The Wedding In An Exotic Location
If you have the budget for it, having the wedding in an exotic location is a great way to make it unique. Every guest is sure to remember traveling to someplace new in order to watch your child get married. Consider having the wedding in the Bahamas, Europe, or even someplace very different like Iceland. Of course you’ll have to factor in the costs, not just for you but for all of the guests to attend, but should at least consider having the wedding someplace fun.
Choose A Theme Based on Common Interests
A great way to choose a theme for the wedding is by looking at the shared interests between the couple. For instance, if the couple has bonded over their shared love of hiking, you could center the theme around the outdoors, or even have the wedding outside. Or, if the two people getting married are teachers, you could decorate the wedding to look like a classroom. If you take the time to think about what the couple has in common, you’re likely to find something you can turn into a theme.
Set Up A Photobooth
A fun activity to set up at weddings is a photobooth. With a photobooth, guests can go in, take some silly pictures together, and then have a nice keepsake to take home with them. The couple can also get into the fun, taking pictures with all of their guests. The best part is that the bride and groom receive copies of all of the pictures taken, so they can share them after the wedding, or even turn them into custom thank-you cards.
Go For A Custom Menu
Another way to customize the wedding is through the menu. While many weddings choose to go with standard options – Chicken, steak, or fish – why not look at some alternatives? Are there some foods that your child loved as a kid? Add some foods from their childhood, like cheeseburgers or macaroni and cheese, is a great way to make the wedding feel more personal. If you’re having the wedding at a reception hall that is providing the food, you may need to work with them in order to customize the menu.
Besides the food, you can also customize the drinks. For instance, find out what the couple’s favorite drinks are, and then name them after your child and their partner. This way, whenever someone wants to order that drink at the wedding, they need to use your child’s name. It’s not much, but it’s another small detail that makes a wedding unique.
Give Out Fun Wedding Favors
Wedding favors are often an afterthought when it comes to planning a wedding, as there is usually so much else to think of. However, wedding favors are a great way to customize a wedding. Try and find wedding favors that complement the theme you have chosen, or that feature your child and their partner.
Dress From A Different Era
Is your child a lover of history, or of different time periods? Why not incorporate this into the wedding. Anyone can have a modern day wedding, but you can make yours unique by centering the wedding around a different era. Imagine having the whole bridal party – or even, all of the guests too – dressed like it’s the 1920s? Or go back even further and have a Victorian Age wedding. No one will forget a wedding that felt like it was from another era, and it will stand out from the rest.
Plan A Flash Mob
Finally, to add a little excitement to the wedding, consider throwing a surprise flash mob. A flash mob is essentially when a musical number breaks out in the middle of nowhere, with several people being in on the joke. To give you a better idea as to how they work, check out this flash mob that a bride and groom planned for their wedding.
Think Outside The Box
To help your kid have a truly unique wedding, you need to think outside the box. Sometimes it’s hard to come up with ideas when you’re so stressed getting all of the details together, and your kid is going to need your outside perspective. Use the ideas above, and you’re sure to come up with something good that will help your child have a wedding to remember.
