I’m thrilled to partner with Zap Zap to announce their new Zap Zap Kindergarten Math app!
It’s no secret that kids love playing games on their screens, and they will practice math facts if it’s presented in the form of a puzzle or game.
Zap Zap Kindergarten Math’s games are designed around the US Common Core standards, including numeracy skills such as number recognition, counting and comparing, and simple addition. This makes it an ideal educational tool for young learners, including those attending NYC Kindergarten programs, as it aligns with the curriculum and helps reinforce essential math concepts in an engaging and interactive way.
US Common Core Standards for Kindergarten:
In Kindergarten, instructional time should focus on two critical areas: (1) representing and comparing whole numbers, initially with sets of objects; (2) describing shapes and space.
Students use numbers, including written numerals, to represent quantities and to solve quantitative problems, such as counting objects in a set; counting out a given number of objects; comparing sets or numerals; and modeling simple joining and separating situations with sets of objects, or eventually with equations such as 5 + 2 = 7 and 7 – 2 = 5.
(Kindergarten students should see addition and subtraction equations, and student writing of equations in kindergarten is encouraged, but it is not required.)
Students choose, combine, and apply effective strategies for answering quantitative questions, including quickly recognizing the cardinalities of small sets of objects, counting and producing sets of given sizes, counting the number of objects in combined sets, or counting the number of objects that remain in a set after some are taken away.
Kindergarten Math Summer Learning Fun
It’s nice that by playing this math game, kids are also getting exposure to the Common Core math requirements that they need for kindergarten. As a game, it doesn’t feel like summer homework; it’s a fun way to learn.
What is great about Zap Zap Kindergarten Math app is that there are multiple games build into this app, which means that it keeps kids’ interests.
Math apps are perfect for summer learning as it allows them to learn at their own pace.
Zap Zap Kindergarten Math App also has a scoring system with positive reinforcement to make kids want to complete all the levels.
What are you doing with your kids for summer math? Are you using games and apps to get your kids practicing math facts? Thanks for sharing your favorites!
Zap Zap Kindergarten Math is available for $2.99 at the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
It’s parent and teacher approved, winning 5 stars from Educational App Store, and praise from Academics’ Choice Awards.

I think math facts is one of the places where an app really makes sense.
Hi MaryAnne,
I love gaming apps that teach math. My son will play them and learn without any pushback!
