You might know Peter H. Reynolds from The Dot and Ish. Now he has a new book out that encourages readers of every age to find their own unique path to happy. My son and I have fond memories learning about how a math teacher changed his life from his twin brother Paul Reynolds.
Today, I am thrilled to giveaway Peter H. Reynold’s new book, Happy Dreamer. A picture book that celebrates ADHD as an acronym for Amazing Delightful Happy Dreamer.
Happy Dreamer by Peter H. Reynolds
Peter Reynolds is redefining what ADHD stands for: it’s simply an acronym for Amazing Delightful Happy Dreamer. When the world says sit still, follow the rules, and color
inside the lines, his new book celebrates those moments when the mind and spirit soar and we are free to become our own true dreamer.
This book is great for graduations, new babies, milestone moments, and any happy occasion
throughout the year for any age! [picture book, ages 4 and up]

BEST #OWNVOICES CHILDREN’S BOOKS: My Favorite Diversity Books for Kids Ages 1-12 is a book that I created to highlight books written by authors who share the same marginalized identity as the characters in their books.
I’m really looking forward to this book. Everything Peter Reynolds does is amazing. I listened to him talk with Matthew Winner on the All the Wonders podcast and he shared about Happy Dreamer. Very interesting.
Hi Penny,
I love how it’s a positive message about ADHD.
I begin every school year with his ISH. It releases the perfectionists in my class, and allows the ish-like kids to breathe a light of relief. We refer to ish the rest of the year and it breathes life into their writing. ❤
Hi Tess,
I love ISH too!
I am very excited for this book! My favorite Peter Reynold’s books are The Dot and Ish. They are also perfect books for my perfectionist 5 year old.
Hi Emily,
LOL, my son could use the lesson from ISH too! He’s a perfectionist when it comes to art.
I am delighted with Peter’s theme in this book — and there are no labels. It helps kids feel good about themselves and shine at what ever they do. It also reminds me a bit of his book “I’m Here.” I look forward to reviewing Peter’s new book, but have to wait a bit since others have.
Hi Pat,
His books are wonderful! I want to meet him but somehow I’m managed to miss all his events in the Boston area.
This is the message I want every ADHD person to understand! Your brain is wonderful! Peter H. Reynolds has a heart of gold and that of a child, his books’ messages are influential for our little readers.
Hi Ro,
Agree!!! Peter H. Reynolds is awesome!
We love Peter Reynolds – Sky Color is our favorite!
Hi Kathy,
Adding Sky Color to my list!
All sorts of books are great graduation gifts! Thank you for the contest!
Thanks so much for entering John!
I love Someday. I don’t give books as graduation gifts, but I love the idea!
Hi MaryAnne,
I will have to read Someday! Thanks for your book recommendation!
I was so fortunate to meet Peter Reynolds when I was attending a conference for Educational Video Vendors (I was Coordinating Librarian for the Video Library for Los Angeles Unified School District). He was the keynote and I won the chance to draw something that he would decorate! It was such an important occasion since my whole life has been one of embarrassment about how I cannot draw (since a 2nd grade teacher told me I couldn’t and proceeded to paint my picture for me). Kudos to Peter Reynolds for all that he does for all of us. And you too of course PragmaticMom!
Hi Joan,
What an amazing experience. He lives near me but I have somehow managed to miss all his book events though I did meet his brother Paul for an event at Charlesbridge Publising. I need to work on this because he’s very inclusive when he does his book events! How fun to draw with him! Did he convince you of your inner artist? I hope so! 🙂
I like to give Bibles as gifts!
Hi Edye,
Books make great gifts!
I absolutely love Peter Reynolds books. Up until “Happy Dreamer” came out my favourite books were “Ish” and “Little Boy.” Now this is my new favourite.
Another book I give as a gift is “What Do You Do With an Idea” by Kobi Yamada
Thank you so much for this giveaway! Good luck to all!
Sorry… I just realized the giveaway was for the US only… 😅
Good luck to all!
Hi Jennifer,
Sorry, the cost of mailing outside the US it so high that we limit it to US only.
Hi Jennifer,
Great book suggestions! Thank you! And thanks for entering!
Telling all my kid lit students about this one!
Thanks so much for sharing Laura!
I love THE DOT book best. I usually give money as grad gifts.
Hi Margo,
Money is greatly appreciated I am sure by grads!!!
I’m really excited about this book.
Thanks so much for entering Margaret!
I like THE DOT book! I plan to utilize it and activities I’ve found on Pinterest with my students next year! I generally give money for graduation gifts. However, I have done a few picture albums to give as gifts.
Hi Lowanda,
I love the idea of picture albums as graduation gifts!!
I like THE DOT the best! ‘Oh, The Places You’ll Go!’ always works for graduation!
Thanks so much for entering Alyssa!
Love the North Star. It’s also a great gift for graduates, job switchers, new moms…
Hi Cindy,
I don’t know that one! Thanks for your rec!
I love The Dot! Each year, my class participates in Dot Day. I do the story as a read aloud, and then my students create their own dots.
Hi Jennifer,
I love Dot Day! How fun that your students get to participate! I wish mine did at school but they don’t seem to make time for that.
Rose’s Garden is a sweet sweet book.
Hi Olga,
I’ll add that to my tbr list.
I really like using The Dot in storytime programs. However, there is something about Going Places that captures a childlike view in an exciting way.
Hi Lisa,
Going Places is such a great adventure! I loved his illustrations.
The Dot … it’s when I fell in love with Peter Reynold’s books.
Hi Alice,
His books are such classics!
I am a school teacher, and I always read his book The Dot to my class. Such a powerful book!
Hi Leigh,
What a great message to give to your class!
My favorite Peter H. Reynold book is The Best Kid in the World
Thank You for the chance!
Hi Fiona,
I need to read that one! Thanks for entering!
Peter’s books about creativity & the creative process are so powerful. I love The Dot & referenced it in a recent review of When I Coloured in the World (Ahmadreza Ahmadi/Ehsan Abdollahi, Tiny Owl Publishing, 2017).
Hi Patricia,
Thanks for sharing your review! I think creativity is the most important skill in the 21st century to develop in kids.
LOL ~ Graduation books? = College books
But for my kids who are in elementary school I gift them gift cards to B&N for them to choose but, it must be age appropriate AND push them to read at a bit of a current higher level.
Hi Michelle,
That sounds like a good plan!
