Did you know that author James Patterson of Maximum Ride series now has a publishing imprint through Little, Brown called Jimmy Patterson Books. The books that he’s putting out have his name on the cover: James Patterson Presents. This is an interesting concept of brand extension for authors.
I’m giving away a James Patterson Presents book, Sci-Fi Junior High by John Martin and Scott Seegert that is a notebook novel like Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. This book is actually a hybrid — part doodles, part graphic novel pages, and part chapter book. This is a book to draw in reluctant boy readers with both humor and illustrations on every single page.
I’m giving away a prize package for Sci-Fi Junior High!
One winner receives:
Copy of Sci-Fi Junior High
Branded iron-on patch and pencil case
Plus rocket ship pens!
Please fill out the Rafflecopter at the bottom to enter. What books have you discovered that gets your kids reading? Thanks for sharing!
Sci-Fi Junior High by John Martin and Scott Seegert
Kelvin Klosmo isn’t just the new kid at school – he’s the new kid in the galaxy! Welcome to Sci-Fi Junior High: an inter-galactic space station with students of all shapes, sizes, smells, and… slime content. As the son of Earth’s two most famous geniuses, Kelvin isn’t just the smartest kid in the world….he’s the smartest kid in the UNIVERSE. At least, that’s what everybody at Sci-Fi Junior High thinks.
So, maybe Kelvin lied a little about being a genius to fit in. And maybe a mad scientist is about to take over the universe unless Kelvin can stop him. Maybe everyone is doomed.
Well, at least Kelvin won’t have to worry about math homework anymore.
Sci-Fi Junior High is an out-of-this-world story about friendship, accepting our differences, and the fight against evil… bunnies. Yes, evil bunnies – don’t ask. [chapter book, ages 8 and up]

What’s getting my son reading? YOU! Yes, that book you sent, Botswana, really propelled him to read! He was reading something else for school and lost interest. He picked up Bostwana and now he reads almost every night! I’m so thrilled. Finally! I bought him 2 more in that series, plus he went to the book fair w/ a friend of ours and she bought him a book about WWII. So so so happy he is reading!
Hi Dee,
That makes me soo happy!!! Thank you SO MUCH for sharing! Does Dylan have the Gannon & Wyatt Hawaii book? If not, I’ll send it to you. Just email me your address.
Didn’t know that about James Patterson. He really has taken the children’s book world by storm — in all genres. I’ve read some of his books. Sorry I’ve been gone on vacation and had no wifi, so am way behind in catching up!
Hi Pat,
I was shocked to see that James Patterson co-authored a manners book, of all things, for kids with serial sexual predator Bill O’Reilly. The irony that Bill O’Reilly is an expert on manners. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/fox-news-bill-oreilly-sexual-harassment_us_58751982e4b02b5f858b59f9
