I’m not much of a crafter so DIY gifts are hard for me to pull off. Still, I like the idea of giving a gift that is homemade; that it shows time and effort rather than just a swipe of a credit card.
These DIY gifts are easy … they have to be! What are your favorite gifts to make or to receive? Thanks for sharing!
The EASIEST DIY Gifts to Make with Kids
This was a good way to use up old bananas and peanut butter that had lingered in the pantry for way too long. My dog is a Golden Retriever and he loves food so perhaps he’s not the most critical of dog biscuit judges. He did LOVE these biscuits and my son and I had a lot of fun making them together.
My kids’ afterschool program spends three months making ornaments that they sell to raise money. We make our own ornaments with items we find around the house but you can peruse these ideas to find ones that are easy for you to make with your kids.
Any kind of body scrub is easy to make, and it’s a welcome gift for dry winter skin! We’ve tinkered with this recipe, adding 1/4 cup of almond oil to make scrub less solid. It’s also fun to play around with essential oils to make your perfect scent!
You can make this for yourself or gift in advance to your kids. It’s so satisfying to focus on Random Acts of Kindness during the busy holiday season. This little book made of brown paper lunch bags is a nice keepsake to remember the experience.
Best Homemade Granola Ever! Nigella Lawson’s Recipe
Most granola tends to be dry but Nigella’s recipe coats it all in yummy goodness using applesauce, sunflower oil, brown rice syrup and brown sugar to make this crunchy and just the right amount of sweet. My kids’ kindergarten teacher loves this granola … I have to make a batch to gift to her this holiday season!
This is a great project for little hands. Preschoolers can make clove fruit to gift to grandparents. It’s an old fashioned pomander that you can use to scent a room.
We insist that our kids write thank you notes for their gifts from relatives, but this can be a laborious process for young ones. I used to buy those fill in the blank thank you cards to help them out. I made a FREE one that you can print out for your kids.
DIY Printable Labels for Your Gifts
A printed label can take a homemade DIY gift and make it extra special. I figured out how to use Avery shipping labels to make beautiful and inexpensive labels to add to your gift. It’s especially helpful if you are making a batch of DIY gifts!
Thanks for reading my post. I’m not the best DIY gift maker so I appreciate the support! 🙂

We made sugar scrubs last year; I could not get over how easy they were to make! I”ll have to try that granola recipe!
Thanks Mother of 3,
I have to say that I enjoyed the leftover sugar scrubs myself!! I’m eating the granola now too! I need to make a batch to gift!
Great ideas. I helped my daughter make white chocolate peppermint bark ( so easy) . We also made chocolate holiday suckers from molds. She gave them as gifts to teachers and school friends.
What a lovely gift idea!
I love the cork ornament!
Thanks MaryAnne! They make the best crafts in our elementary school after school program!
Great gift ideas! My mom has recently started making granola as a homemade snack, so I think she’ll appreciate the idea of using it as a gift!
