1) You’ve created 46 fun, playful drawing games … ‘fess up. Which one is your favorite and don’t give me this “I love all my children equally” song and dance!

You know which one is my favorite? Purely because of the silliness factor, it’s the synchronized drawing game. Since you are trying to keep up with drawing at the same pace as the other person, things get really funny when the lead drawer moves quickly!

2) Tell me about the process of getting your first book published!

What a process! It took me 2 full months of terror-filled procrastination before I believed that I had gotten a book deal and I could start coming up with the projects. Then I got into sort of a groove with the brainstorming, testing projects, drawing them out. Emotionally it was hard at times, because I never think what I’m doing is good enough… and then I had a dramatic last 2 days where I holed myself up in a hotel to finish up. I’m so romantic that way.

3) Which is Fen’s favorite game and why?

Fen’s favorite game was game #5 Eggheads, because she jumped right in and drew all the faces immediately. We just went ahead and used her faces for the book because they were all so cute.

4) Which is Beckett’s favorite game and why?

Beckett’s favorite project- and this one surprised me- was #29, the Exquisite Corpse Book. He saw me making one, and immediately got to work on a couple of his own. I love how you never know what’s going to spark a kid’s creative imagination!
