Viewing the Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse from Boston

Viewing the Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse from Boston

Did you catch the supermoon lunar eclipse this past September 27th, 2015? It’s a supermoon and a lunar eclipse or ‘blood moon’ happening at the same time. It was visible around much of the planet in a rare celestial event. The last one was in 1982 and the next one is in 2033.

We watched it here a few miles west of Boston. My iPhone images weren’t great but my friend Stella shared the photo her daughter Sam took.

Here’s a great video from NASA on the Supermoon Lunar Eclipse.

Are you hungry to learn about the planets? Check out this video on what our solar system actually looks like when seen in scale!

And here’s my short video that I made from our blood moon event. I hope you enjoy it!

  1. It was spectacular, wasn’t it. Thanks for sharing the NASA video; I really enjoyed it!

  2. Jennifer Jensen

Theoretically, it might have been visible around much of the world, but some of us were cursed with cloud cover. 🙁 Glad you got to enjoy it in person, and thanks for sharing your video.

    • Hi Jennifer,
I noticed the cloud cover issue around the world on Instagram and Periscope that night too. I’m sorry to anyone who tried to see it but was thankful that so many with clear views shared! It was such a unifying event to realize that we, all around the world, are seeing the same thing. I forget about that.
