Love the Mystic Princess series….
Hi Barbara,
I don’t think I’ve read those (yet!).
I have always been partial to the Little House series. Even at my age, I have been back to visit the Ingalls. I’m taken back to not only my childhood but to an enchanting tale of a family who worked hard together and loved together. Kelly
Hi Kelly,
I loved that series as a child too! I guess only the part about “the only good Indian, is a dead Indian” is what doesn’t fly in these times. I wish that part wasn’t in the book.
Scholastic Branches – what fun! I’ve got a granddaughter who will be growing into them in a year or two.
My early favorites? From my own childhood, Amelia Bedelia! More recently, the Judy Moody series.
Hi Jennifer,
I love Amelia Bedilia too!!! The new Scholastic Branches are great and there are more books in that series that I didn’t cover. Actually, quite a few more. I’ll have to do a follow up post as I am still reading about a dozen more (each is its own series).
My kids love the Humphrey Hamster early chapter books.
Hi MaryAnne,
My oldest loved those animal chapter books too! She is still such an animal lover!
Both of my kids like Cam Jansen books.
Hi Lauren,
Great recommendation! Thank you!
My favorite early chapter book is When I am Happiest, by Rose Lagercrantz. Originally published in Sweden. I just re-read it 2 nights ago when I needed something ‘happy’ to cheer me up. It did!
Hi Susan,
I have it on my list to read for the Cybils. I can’t wait!! My library system didn’t have it so I hope I get it soon!
My favorite early chapter book Little House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder. That book changed my life.
Hi Linda,
I loved that book as a child too!!
These books look fabulous! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much Traci!
I loved the Little House series and the Beverly Cleary books when I was a kid and can’t wait to share them with my daughter when she’s a little bit older.
Hi Kathy,
Love your picks! I have fond memories of both those series too!
I loved Kung Pao chicken! but havent read the others! thanks for hosting the giveaway!
Hi Reshama,
That’s such a fun series! I’ve read two so far and I have liked them a lot too! Thanks so much for entering!
I love the Berenstain Bears! This giveaway feels like perfect timing – I just discovered the Branches books and was hoping to invest in some for some of my newest readers!! Thanks for offering this. Fingers crossed!
Hi Elizabeth,
I’m impressed with how many different series Scholastic Branches has and how many great books there are!! Thanks for entering!
My students love the Junie B. Jones series.
Hi Jennifer,
I loved Junie B too. Some moms think she’s fresh but my daughters and I thought this series was so funny!!! Hair Cut Guy and Fruitcake are my two favorites!
We really love the Nate the Great books
Hi D,
I love too! Great rec. Thank you!
Ohhh just give me any of the Fudge , Ramona, or Junie B Jones books and I was a happy girl when I was younger ! I of course read them to my girls now too 🙂
Hi Crystal,
Great picks!! Thanks so much for entering and for sharing your book recommendations!!
What a great set of books. Thanks.
Hi Sandra,
There are so many other great series in the Scholastic Branches beyond this four! I’ll try to cover them soon.
All of my kids enjoyed the Junie B. Jones series. I’m sure it was because of the humor. Thanks for sharing this great giveaway! Wish I had some little kiddos still at home to read them!
Hi Stacie,
We read a ton of Junie B Jones as well when my kids were younger and I thought they were snort-laugh funny!
I love the older Amelia Bedelia books personally but kids in my library love Mercy Watson!
Hi Deena,
I’m a big fan of Amelia Bedelia too! And Mercy Watson!
