My son saw this video on The Kid Should See It and wanted to build a 3D Hologram Projector.

Build Hologram Projector Video
It looks simple enough and it certainly caught my 10-year-old son’s attention. The materials are easy to come by too. You just need:
- CD Case that you can cut up
- X-Acto Blade
- A cutting board or something to cut on
- clear tape
- scissors
The first thing you need to do is print out this template that you will use to cut out the plastic pieces from the CD case.
Have an adult help you cut out the plastic pieces. It’s a little tricky!
Carefully tape the plastic pieces together.
Now the fun part! Place your 3D Hologram Projector on a smartphone while playing any videos from this collection of YouTube videos or this collection of YouTube videos.

It’s times like these where I wish we had a smartphone that isn’t my Dad’s work phone (which we aren’t really allowed to touch). Really cool! 😀
Hi Erik,
Maybe you can borrow your dad’s smart phone to play the 3D hologram. It doesn’t take long to view the videos in 3D!
Here is an easiest method:

Thanks so much Rusty! I’ll show my son!
Now this is a cool project. I can see my kids having a blast making one of these bad boys. Thanks for the idea!
Thanks Drew! It’s easy to make once you get the plastic CD case cut out. My son had fun making it and it’s nice because you probably have everything at home already. Nothing special to buy!
Wow, it’s amazing what you can make with an X-Acto knife and some materials around the house. I’ll definitely have to share this project!
Hi Heather,
It was a little tricky to cut out but that’s the only hard part.
