Percy Jackson Boxed Set GIVEAWAY #ReadRiordan

Percy Jackson GIVEAWAY #ReadRiordan

Posted on June 20, 2015May 13, 2024 by Pragmatic Mom

Percy Jackson pack

Can you  believe it’s the 10th Anniversary of the Percy Jackson series? I’m thrilled to be part of this celebration and I’ll be posting all year and doing giveaways as part of the #ReadRiordan fan club.

CELEBRATE PERCY’S 10TH ANNIVERSARY with The Lightning Thief, the book that started the internationally best-selling Percy Jackson and the Olympians series.

THE LIGHTNING THIEF has sold millions of copies worldwide, appears on school reading lists nationwide, and inspired a major motion picture. Accolades include:

  • Included in Time Magazine’s 2014 List of 100 best Young-Adult Books of All Times
  • A New York Times Notable Book of 20015
  • A Child Magazine Best Book of the Year
  • A School Library Journal Best Book of 2005
  • More than 6 year on the New York Times Best Sellers List (and counting!)

Percy Jackson is a good kid, but he can’t seem to focus on his schoolwork or control his temper. And lately, being away at boarding school is only getting worse–Percy could have sworn his pre-algebra teacher turned into a monster and tried to kill him. When Percy’s mom finds out, she knows it’s time that he knew the truth about where he came from, and that he go to the one place he’ll be safe. She sends Percy to Camp Half Blood, a summer camp for demigods (on Long Island), where he learns that the father he never knew is Poseidon, God of the Sea. Soon a mystery unfolds and together with his friends–one a satyr and the other the demigod daughter of Athena–Percy sets out on a quest across the United States to reach the gates of the Underworld (located in a recording studio in Hollywood) and prevent a catastrophic war between the gods.

I can’t believe I’ve never read any of the Percy Jackson books! The girl I mentor adores them and it’s time for me to get up to speed. 🙂

I once binge read the first 6 books over a weekend; be warned. Percy Jackson is very addicting!! 🙂

My daughter is a massive fan of Rick Riordan and we’ve read all the books, but we got them all from the library, so she would be so excited to have them in her possession. 🙂 Thanks for hosting the giveaway. We are excited to check out Magnus Chase, too!

Can’t believe it’s been 10 years. Since my kids were older when he started publishing this series, I’ve only read The Lightning Thief. What a great way to get kids reading!

      Hi Patrica,
I know!! I can’t believe it’s been 10 years either! Rick Riordan went from being a history teacher to making $65 million a year! I remember when my friend Lynn told me about The Lightening Thief and loaned me her dog earred copy from her son who is now 15. He was a reluctant reader too so any books he liked I took note. I think he was in 3rd grade at the time.

I love the Percy Jackson series. I think this is the best tool yet to getting boys, who don’t like to read, engage. I have seen first hand that Rick Riordan’s book have done for getting boys to read and actually conversate about the characters and the plot. It’s awesome! Thanks for the chance to win!

I’ve only read the five books in the Percy Jackson series (not the companion books, nor the later Olympus series, nor the Kane Chronicles), but I LOVED them! I don’t know that I had a favorite character, but I remember liking each book more than the last, making The Last Olympian my favorite. We don’t own them, and we haven’t gotten around to getting them from the library yet. I think my oldest daughter is ready for them now, and my guess is she will love them, too. Magnus Chase sounds fabulous.

      Hi Akaleistar,
It’s a great series if you like fast paced adventure and mythology. I love how the cast of characters is diverse by the second series too with strong female characters. It also covers geography because they travel the world during their adventures.

      Hi Shivella,
Nico is a great character! I’m glad Riordan makes an effort to show diverse and inclusive characters. We can’t wait for Magnus Chase either. We’ve been reading Norse mythology to get ready and it’s so different from Greek or Roman. It’s a little confusing as the Norse gods are not as black and white — good vs bad — as I am used to.
