Do you need gift ideas for Mother’s Day? I always do. The problem is that I think Mother’s Day is all about me and I forget that I also need to get Mother’s Day gifts for the grandmothers. One year this meant overnight expressing cards for Saturday delivery!
Grandmothers might find this bracelet to be too edgy, but I like it! It’s a handmade Mother’s Day bracelet from Cynical Redhead’s Etsy store, $16. You can check more personalized items at the Callie Gifts website.
DIY gifts are always nice and garner extra points for effort. Kids and grandkids can help make this simple salt scrub to slough away dry skin. Betty Crocker has an easy and lusciously scented DIY Lemon Salt Scrub with just three ingredients! And you might want pretty containers as well.
- 5 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon grated lemon peel
- 1/2 cup kosher (coarse) salt
Homemade bath bombs are also fun to make and use! Kids will need help to make them but it’s fairly straightforward. Intimate Weddings has a great recipe. It requires some shopping in advance, so here’s the list:
Ingredients:
- 8 oz. baking soda
- 4 oz Citric Acid
- 4 oz. corn starch
- 4 oz. Epsom salts
- 3/4 tsp water
- 2 tsp. essential oil (I used peppermint)
- 2.5 tsp almond oil or other light oil
- A few drops of food coloring
- sugar flower (the kind you use for decorating cakes)
- Clear Plastic Fillable Ball Ornament
When I think about Grandmother’s day gifts, I know that my mother and mother-in-law like to have EVIDENCE of how much their grandkids adore them. Something to display is always good … like this Birthstone Music Box, for $59. You can personalize this limited-edition music box with glass birthstones for Moms for up to 6 children. Swarovski® Crystals plays “Always in My Heart.”
Potted blooming bulbs are always nice. You can also do this yourself! You’ll just need a pretty pot, potting soil, and some bulbs. These are Grape Hyacinth. Freesia is also lovely because of its beguiling scent.
For a technology splurge, I’d go with the Beats Pill Portable Speaker, for $169. Its slim, compact, and delivers big sound. It’s also really easy to use! You just turn your Bluetooth on, power up your Beats, and play music off your iPhone.
You can also sync two pills by tapping them together to play the same song. Tap the pills together twice to stereo your music, making one Beats Pill the left output and the other the right, or pair to a Pill XL for greater sound.

We mostly do cards for mother’s day, but you have some nice ideas here!
Hi MaryAnne,
I hope you will post on the cards you make! I love all your craft projects and I’m running out of ideas for Mother’s Day gifts to make!
Great ideas for children and adults. I like homemade. I don’t have to deal with this anymore.
Hi Patricia,
I hope you get lovely homemade gifts for holidays!! I have to figure out something for the grandmothers. Our friend is expanding her kids sewing business to include soap making and candlemaking so maybe we can make 3 items in time! One kid wants to make candles but only the dipped kind and another is open to soap making. But all the kids think that no one uses soap; only pump variety! I still use soap bars though!
Good to see that type of gifts for Mother’s Day. This month Mother’s Day is coming i would like to purchase some personalized gifts and after reading your blog i am very happy. thank so much for this wonderful blog.

Hi Mia,
Very nice of you for sharing such an awesome article with us.
Yes its true that nowadays we expect all these things from ours children’s but we haven’t done to ours parents or even grand-parents. We must do something special for our older parents.
Gift ideas discussed by you are great and can be made easily. Your article is sufficient for making these gifts, will definitely share it with my friends and followers as many can get help by it for making this mother’s day really a special one.
Thanks for the post.
Have a nice day.
