Happy International Book Giving Day and Happy Valentine’s Day as well! Want to celebrate too? Just give a new or used book to a child or a place or person that will reach a person. Grab your free book plates too, 2 versions!
Today, to celebrate, I’m giving away books! I believe in giving the right book to the right person so I’m matching up books by Core Curriculum subjects they teach or if I just think it would be a good addition to their classroom library.
I’m going to start by giving away books to my kids’ teachers, both present and past:
Kindergarten Teacher: The Hula-Hooping Queen by Themla Lynne Godin (because kids need to see themselves in books)
2nd Grade Teacher: This is the Greatest Place! The Forbidden City and the World of Small Animals by Brian Tse (because the 2nd grade does a unit on China)
3rd Grade Teacher: Lend a Hand by John Frank (because kids need to see themselves in books and the 3rd grade does a poetry unit)
4th Grade Teacher: Seeds of Freedom: The Peaceful Integration of Huntsville, Alabama by Hester Bass (because the 4th grade does a Civil Rights unit)
7th Grade English Teacher: X: A Novel by Ilyasah Shabazz with Kekla Magoon (because this might inspire a student)
(His 1st Grade Teacher switched schools to one closer to where she lives after she got married and had a baby. We miss her; she is an amazing teacher!)
