Do you remember Arturo Avina who made those wonderful Miss Nelson is Missing and Miss Nelson is Back with his kindergarten class? Well, he and his kids have made another video!
He says:
We recently wrapped up an education-related video that the LA Times called “innovative” and “ambitious,” and I think it could be of interest to your readers and the education community. My colleague and I recently filmed a video with our kindergarteners where we strived to reinvent the alphabet with 26 Madonna songs. Who knew Madonna songs could teach the alphabet, right!?
Our goal was not only to find a creative way to teach letters, but to blend film, music, and performance into our arts-starved curriculum. The result is “Like an Alphabet,” a collection of 26 mini-music videos BY kindergartners and FOR kindergartners (although the grown-ups may get a kick out of it too considering the pop music that goes along with it).

BEST #OWNVOICES CHILDREN’S BOOKS: My Favorite Diversity Books for Kids Ages 1-12 is a book that I created to highlight books written by authors who share the same marginalized identity as the characters in their books.
Innovative, creative, and so meaningful for the target audience!

Thanks so much MaryAnne,
His kindergarteners are amazing and so cute! I love the work he does with them! I fully expect some of his students to go into the entertainment industry when they grow up based on these kinds of experiences!
