I wanted you to meet Jonathan Stroud next. He was part of the Rick Riordan Mega Awesome event along with Ridley Pearson and Eoin Colfer.
Jonathan is a Brit with the world’s best wife. She let him quit his job to try to be a writer. It was six months before Bartimaeus emerged in its infancy and the rest, as they say, is history.
Jonathan has a new series out and it sounds fascinating. Think Ghostbusters but instead of Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Bill Murray, it’s a team of kids.
Here’s the trailer … (cue creepy music, please)
(I am having some technical problems with getting my videos to show up. If you can’t see it, click here for the trailer.)
And here he is to talk to you about Bartimaeus and Lockwood and Co.! (Click here if it is not appearing below.)
These are his books!
Bartimaus trilogy by Jonathan Stroud
Lockwood and Co. The Screaming Staircase by Jonathan Stroud

His new series sounds FUN!
Hi Jeanette,
I loved the movie Ghostbusters and I think kids will like that his series has them in charge of ghostbusting!!!
So many good books! I’ll have to check out this trilogy. How can you go wrong with Ghostbusters, but with younger characters! Thanks for introducing it.
Hi Jim,
I am intrigued too and I think my 9 year old son will like it!
Wow Mama! What a great book series – but I was quite impressed with the support of his spouse. You know that warmed my heart, right? After reading that – I was puddy in your hands! :). Wow, what a great story of spousal support. How could he not be a success, you know? That’s what it takes.
Thanks so much for sharing this.
I’m pinning this, if for no other reason, than to support such an awesome couple!
Hi Lisa,
He does have a supportive spouse!! He credits her with his success and that’s wonderful too!
Woohoo. I’m checking out his books then.
Hi Andy,
Yay! His books are great!
That is an awesome wife – well, you know what they say about a great man (writer)? 😉 thanks for introducing us to Jonathon in the Kid Lit Blog Hop.
Hi Renee,
It is true, isn’t it?! Glad you got to “meet” him too! He’s charming and his new series sounds really fun!
