Do your kids love book trailers as much as my kids do? It’s a great way, I’ve found, to get kids interested in a book and these days children’s book trailers can be as exciting as movie trailers!
It’s also new medium for creative types like illustrators and authors to play in. And if they have a background in art like Jarrett Krosoczka who graduated from Rhode Island School of Design, then WATCH OUT because you are in for a treat!
I’m so excited to debut his trailer for his newest picture book, Peanut Butter and Jellyfish!!!
Peanut Butter and Jellyfish by Jarrett Krosoczka
Peanut Butter and Jellyfish are the best of friends. They swim up. They swim down. They swim all around. Except near Crabby, who never has anything nice to say to them. “You two swim like humans” is the least of his insults.
Then one day Crabby is caught in a lobster trap and needs their help! Should they help him? It’s Peanut Butter and Jellyfish to the rescue! Crabby might be afraid of heights . . . but will he be brave enough to apologize?

This looks so fun! I can’t wait to read it!
Hi Erica,
I’ll let Jarrett know that you’d love to review it! I think he might send you a copy!
I love the way this book looks and sounds. The illustrations and video remind me of a barefoot book!
Thanks for sharing this. I am pinning this! Thanks for the introduction!
Hi Lisa,
I love Jarrett’s illustrations too! I also like that his story about friendship is not a trite treatment of two buddies going on adventures together but there is a real issue that kids can relate to. Should you help out the crab who is mean to you? I don’t think I’ve read a picture book that presents this friendship dilemma so clearly yet this is such a great thing for kids to think about.
Our house is huge fans of JJK! I can’t wait to see his new picture book. Thanks for teasing us with the trailer!
Hi Eric,
I know what you mean about a teaser … I wish I had the book to crack open now that I really need to know what happens to the crab!!! Do you know Jarrett’s birthday? If you do, I look forward to reading your post! You have the best activities to go with the authors’ books! I am still chuckling over the boxing one! (My kids like to box too!)
Adorable! I’m fascinated by the whole picture book trailer phenomenon. What fun!
Hi Laura S.,
I am amazed how the children’s book trailers get more and more “movie-like”. I think it’s a wonderful development and it makes it so much easier for me to get my kids to check a book out via a video trailer versus a jacket cover. Thanks for stopping by!
What a cute concept! We love book trailers too. They are just pure fun!
Hi Ann,
Book trailers ARE so much fun! And very effective too! Now I am dying to read Peanut Butter and Jellyfish. I had heard about Jarrett’s picture book through a Skype author visit but I didn’t know much about the plot. It really did help me understand what the book was about and why I should read it! Before I saw the video I just thought it was cute aquatic picture book with a play on words.
This looks like a great book! I may have to pre-order for my son and I to read.
Thanks so much for sharing on Turn It Up Tuesday! We love having you! 🙂
Hi Natasha,
Thanks so much for your kind words! I’m so glad you like the trailer! I’d love to hear what your son thinks! I may have to pre-order as well! Now I MUST KNOW what happens to the crab! I would love a surprise ending too! (Are they all three going to be best buds? That’s an easy ending but easy is not necessarily the most interesting).
Thank you all for checking out the trailer. I cannot wait for you to read the book once it’s here!
Thank you for your nice comments here as well!
🙂

Hi Jarrett,
You have me so curious about the ending of Peanut Butter and Jellyfish so now I HAVE to read the book! Plus, Peanut Butter and Jellyfish are such adorable characters. And I loved the voice talent of your narrator. Is that your daughter?
This book sounds adorable – such a fun book trailer, too!
Hi MaryAnne,
I can’t wait to read the book!! I love book trailers … they really do get you excited about the book!!
Sounds fun! As a huge fan of the ocean and all that’s in it, hurrah!
Hi Debbie,
