I’m celebrating dads with humor today! My husband is on a once-in-a-lifetime golf trip in Ireland and will be landing back in Boston shortly. He is doing a double celebration — for a friend’s 60th birthday and for Father’s Day returning just in time for a Father’s Day dinner. It will be low key, perhaps even take out. A week without him is a long week indeed.
And so, to celebrate Father’s Day, I have rounded up a few fun tidbits that will make my husband laugh. Here’s hoping that your Father’s Day is wonderful too, filled with laughter and fun! Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, stepdads, and grandfathers out there!! I hope you have a wonderful day. How are you celebrating Father’s Day today?

Happy dad day to all the dads’ in the world.
To you too Viren! Have a wonderful Father’s Day weekend!
Fascinating info in that dung beetle book!
Hi Barbara,
It looks funny, doesn’t it? Something inherantly funny about dung beetles … I just read about them in The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate and it was off putting to the girl Harry was wooing.
That Daddy skills video is so great…..I really enjoyed it
Hi Faigie,
I loved that video too. I just read another article that slammed it for not relating the video to the product. Actually, that’s the reason why I like the video so much. They are not hard selling twirly toothbrushes. I guess you can never win with ads!
I actually had no idea that it was related to a product
Hi Faigie,
There is criticism of the Oral B video that it doesn’t tie back to their twirly toothbrush but that is actually what I like about the commercial!
I use a battery powered one but always use it manually… oops haha
Hi Vi,
That’s funny! Is your battery dead or it too noisy with it switched on?
Dads and poop go together perfectly! Love the dung beetle book.
Hi Jeanette,
I can see that your family dynamic is like mine: dads and poop and boys and potty humor!
Funny music video!
Congrats Jeanette too!
Mike loved the Daddy Rap 🙂
Hi Maryanne,
I’m glad! They seemed really nice when they sent me an email about it. I’ve been saving it for Father’s Day since I never know what to give my husband!
What an awesome project. When my grandpa turned 70, I was in charge of similar project. His 4 kids, my grandma, and us five grandkids did a top 70 list of our favorite things about him or memories, one line only. I compiled it, printed it and had it sent to him via fedex since all us kids were all so dispersed that we weren’t going to see him that day. The delivery and package were such a surprise I know it made him cry. If I ever do it again for someone else, I want to video tape the opening, reading, etc for posterity because man, what an oral history that would be!
Hi Vince,
That sounds like a nice present for your grandpa! I think it’s easier to make videos now too and it’s easier to share videos with YouTube. I think you are right about preserving via oral history. We’re taping my mother and mother-in-law about the family history. I need to transfer it to YouTube though or it’s easy for it to get lost.
